Bourdon was active in Rome (1634 C37), in Sweden (1652 C54) as Queen Christina's court portrait painter, and in Paris; he also worked in his native Montpellier, where he painted The Fall of Simon Magus for the cathedral. French painter; student of J. L. David. Granet is known for his depictions of church interiors, among them his numerous versions of the Choir of the Capuchin Monastery, one of which is in the Metropolitan Museum. He bequeathed much of his own best work and also his fine collection of paintings to the museum of his native Aix-en-Provence.
Knut Ekwall was a Swedish painter, 3 April 1843 in Säby (Småland province), Sweden - 4 April 1912 in Säby.
Ekwall studied from 1860-1866 at the Academy of Arts in Stockholm, with emphasis on xylography (designing woodcut printing blocks) and drawing.
He became a pupil of the painter Ludwig Knaus in Berlin.
In 1870, Ekwall established himself as an artist in Munich in Germany and later worked in Leipzig.
His works during this period were primarily for magazine illustrations, and were reproduced as engravings.
He returned to Sweden and died there at the age of 69.
